Anyone who knows me know that I love Taylor Swift to an almost abnormal degree. I stumbled across her music on Youtube in 2009, and from there I genuinely think I’ve listened to her music everyday of my life since. From 95% of my tattoos referencing her work to forcing everyone in my life to listen to her, it’s undeniable. There is so so so much I could talk about in relation to Taylor (and I’m sure I will more in the future), but today I’m going to go through some of my favourite lyrics that ‘altered my brain chemistry’. From her debut album to Midnights, let’s do this;

‘And you come away with a great little story, of a mess of a dreamer with the nerve to adore you’

Cold As You – Taylor Swift (Debut)

‘You used to shine so bright but I watched all of it fade’

You’re Not Sorry – Fearless

‘So here’s to everything coming down to nothing, here’s to silence that cuts me to the core’

Forever & Always – Fearless

‘You paint me a blue sky and go back and turn it to rain. And I lived in your chess game but you changed the rules every day’

Dear John – Speak Now

‘All the girls that you’ve run dry have tired lifeless eyes ’cause you burned them out. But I took your matches before fire could catch me so don’t look now – I’m shining like fireworks over your sad empty town’

Dear John – Speak Now

‘This night is sparkling, don’t you let it go – I’m wonderstruck, blushing all the way home’

Enchanted – Speak Now

‘Lost your balance on a tightrope, lost your mind trying to get it back’

Innocent – Speak Now

‘You and I walk a fragile line, I have known it all this time. But I never thought I’d live to see it break’

Haunted – Speak Now

‘You can plan for a change in the weather and time, but I never planned on you changing your mind’

Last Kiss – Speak Now

‘Hold on to spinning around, confetti falls to the ground. May these memories break our fall’

Long Live – Speak Now

‘All we are is skin and bone, trained to get along’

Treacherous – Red

‘This is falling in love in the cruelest way, this is falling for you when you are worlds away’

Come Back… Be Here – Red

‘If I was standing there in your apartment, I’d take that bomb in your head and disarm it’

Forever Winter – Red

‘They say all’s well that ends well but I’m in a new hell every time you double-cross my mind’

All Too Well (10 Minute Version) – Red

‘And I was never good at telling jokes, but the punch line goes – I’ll get older but your lovers stay my age’

All Too Well (10 Minute Version) – Red

‘Did the twin flame bruise paint you blue? Just between us, did the love affair maim you too?

All Too Well (10 Minute Version) – Red

‘When you’re young, you just run but you come back to what you need’

This Love – 1989

‘The water filled my lungs, I screamed so loud but no one heard a thing’

Clean – 1989

‘Ten months sober, I must admit – just because you’re clean don’t mean you don’t miss it. Ten months older, I won’t give in – now that I’m clean I’m never gonna risk it’

Clean – 1989

‘It’s all fun and games ’til somebody loses their mind’

Wonderland – 1989

‘And you understand now why they lost their minds and fought the wars, and why I’ve spent my whole life trying to put it into words’

You Are In Love – 1989

I Did Something Bad – Reputation

‘X marks the spot where we fell apart. He poisoned the well, every man for himself. I knew it from the first old-fashioned we were cursed, it hit you like a shotgun shot to the heart’

Getaway Car – Reputation

‘I’m in a getaway car, I left you in the motel bar. Put the money in the bag and I stole the keys, that was the last time you ever saw me’

Getaway Car – Reputation

‘Is this the end of all the endings? My broken bones are mending’

King Of My Heart – Reputation

‘And therein lies the issue, friends don’t try to trick you, get you on the phone and mind twist you. So I took an axe to a mended fence’

Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve – Midnights

‘And I damn sure never would’ve danced with the devil, at nineteen’

Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve – Midnights

‘And now that I’m grown I’m scared of ghosts, memories feel like weapons. And now that I know, I wish you’d left me wondering’

‘Living for the thrill of hitting you where it hurts, give me back my girlhood it was mine first’

Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve – Midnights

If you sat and read all of those, I can assume one of two things – you’re either already a swiftie or you need to start listening to her music. I’ve put together a Spotify playlist of all these songs, check it out here. Honestly, I could’ve included so many more, particularly from Speak Now and folklore. What’s your favourite Taylor Swift song? Let me know below! If you can’t pick one, give me a few!
