Simple Ways to Fall Back in Love With Your City

Do you have a love-hate relationship with your hometown? We’ve all been there. A lot of us can’t wait to leave and feel like we’ve seen everything there is to see, done everything there is to do, etc. I recently moved back to my home town after finishing university and I’ve slowly been falling in love with it all over again. Here’s a few tips to get you started on rekindling that relationship between you and your city.

Explore New Areas

This is such a simple one, but there are definitely places in your home town you haven’t seen yet. Maybe a new neighbourhood or local park? Keep exploring and see what you discover.

Try New Cafes

Rather than always going to chains, support a local business! There are so many independent local cafes that deserve your custom – go out there and find them!

Have a Staycation!

I know what you’re thinking – ‘a holiday? where i already live??’, but changing your perspective can be so refreshing. Pretend you’re a tourist visiting for the first time and, at the same time, you’re treating yourself to a nice hotel.

Attend Local Events

One of the best ways to feel more connected to your home town is to be around the community! Find out what events are going on and go to a few. Bring a few friends along, or make a date out of it!

Learn About it’s History

Do a little research! Your city/town may be full of so much history you don’t even know about! Find some information online or, if you’re feeling a little old school, go to your local library and find some books all about your city.

All in all – change your perspective and start exploring. Pretend to be a tourist, support a cafe you’ve never been to before, and check out events going on in your city. Start building up that love for your home town again one step at a time.
