Hay fever season is well and truly upon us and if you suffer badly with it, you’re in the same boat at us right now. From a never ending runny nose to unbearably itchy eyes, hay fever is out to get us. If you’re feeling frustrated with your symptoms, try out some of these tips to relieve your pain today.

1. Hay Fever/Allergy Tablets

The most obvious solution is to take hay fever & allergy relief tablets. The trick is to take these at the start of the day, before you leave the house. Generally, it is more effective if you take it before the symptoms begin. Get ahead of your allergies rather than waiting until you’re really suffering.

2. Wet Cotton Pads on Eyes

This one is for people whose eyes are severely effected by hay fever. If you have some spare time at home, wet some cotton pads with cold water and place them over your eyes. Not only does this relieve the pain and stop you from itching, but it also cleanses your eyes.

3. Wear Sunglasses Outside

While this certainly isn’t a guaranteed fix, wearing sunglasses can help you protect your eyes from pollen and reduce your symptoms a little bit. This is really helpful, especially if you’re in areas with freshly cut grass, etc.

4. Change Your Clothes When You Get Home

Just like dog hair, pollen sticks to everything you wear. When you get home, take off your clothes and put something clean on. Throw your old clothes in a laundry basket to wash ASAP! If you’re feeling especially rough, take a shower to wash off any extra pollen lurking around.

5. Keep Windows and Doors Closed

A lot of us will choose to stay home where possible – trying to avoid the outdoors and any interaction with pollen. Even though the weather keeps getting hotter, try and keep your windows and doors closed where possible! Avoid letting pollen in and let your home be a safe space for you.

Do you suffer with hay fever? How have your symptoms been this year?

Take these tips into account but, more importantly, don’t let your allergies ruin your summer!
