If you’re anything like us, jumping into bed and falling asleep watching Netflix or scrolling through TikTok is a familiar pattern. We’re here today to share some simple ways you can let yourself fully wind down and relax before going to bed.

Allowing yourself to wind down at the end of the day is essential for many reasons. Not only does it let you fully relax before going to sleep, but also allows you to reflect on the day and let your mind shut down a little.

Put on Comfy Clothes

Is bedtime just around the corner? Change out of your day-to-day clothes and put something comfy on! As soon as you begin your wind-down routine, let yourself feel comfortable. Get your PJs on earlier than usual or put on some joggers and keep yourself one step ahead.

Create Cosy Vibes

This could be different things for everyone. Try some of these out;

  • Light your favourite candle
  • Turn off the main lights and put some lamps on
  • Tea drinker? Brew your favourite tea!
  • Watch a chilled-out TV show
  • Play some mellow music

Relax with Some Self-Care

We’ve mentioned this before, but self-care looks different for everyone. Some people like to do skin care, some like a shower before bed – others like journalling and reading. Whatever makes you feel relaxed and positive, add it to your wind-down routine!

Reflect on Your Day

Try and do this as positively as possible. Look back and think about what brought you joy today. Maybe you met up with a friend, made a really good memory, saw a cute dog or laughed a lot. If you enjoy journalling, write these things down. Making positive reflections on your day will help you to feel more peaceful before bed.

Prepare for Tomorrow

One of the best ways to let yourself relax at bedtime is to be as prepared as possible for tomorrow. Write a mini to-do list for the morning, make your lunch for work the night before or simply lay out your outfit for tomorrow. Anything you can do to make your morning a little easier will help you feel ready to relax and fall asleep.

Remember, you deserve to relax! Make the extra time to give your body the care it needs before going to bed.
