Primer, Moisturiser and Setting Spray

These steps are always most essential in a makeup routine, but we should really be prioritising them in the hotter months. Just like priming a canvas before you paint, taking extra care with your base will help out with the longevity of your makeup look.

Concealer Instead of Foundation

Concealer is often more lightweight than foundation. Opting to use a little more concealer as a replacement for foundation will keep your face feeling lighter, as well as avoiding creasing and melting. Focus on specific areas, such as your eyes, chin, nose and any blemishes, rather than applying it everywhere like you would with foundation. Don’t forget to set it with powder!

Much like how we apply powder on top of foundation, this method can be used for other steps to really keep everything in place! If you use cream blushes or liquid contour, applying the same product in powder-form will set your makeup in place.

Blot Your Makeup!

One of the easiest ways to ensure your makeup is truly set into your skin, particularly foundation, is to use a beauty blender to apply. Rather than your regular makeup brush, blot your foundation and concealer in. This way it’s really setting into your skin, rather than just becoming an additional layer. You can pick up beauty blenders from any makeup store or supermarket!

Try a Lighter Makeup Look

As a last resort, you can always opt for a slightly lighter makeup look! Of course, we would all love to stick to our full beat but you can often create a similar look using less products. Opting for a lighter look will help you avoid creasing, melting, etc.

Enjoy the sun, and don’t forget to wear sunscreen!
